Intertitle / Title card
Watch as an animation →Insert a screen with only text between scenes to tell the time, place, or chapter and break the story into sections.
When you skip time with "Three days later" or "Part 1", for a chronicle where the place keeps changing, or when you want to give viewers a breather between scenes.
Don't generate text screens. Make them as Pillow PNGs or in an editing tool and drop them in as hard cuts between shots. Fix the same font, color, and position across the whole video so it reads as one device. Keep each card up long enough to read comfortably, and time its in and out to a sound effect or a music beat. It also makes big time jumps clear, like "Hours earlier" in a flashforward (see Time Compression / Ellipsis, Flashforward).
Join clip a, a 2-second title card, and clip b with hard cuts, all 1080x1920 at 30 fps; make the card PNG in a design tool and never let the AI draw the text: ffmpeg -i a.mp4 -loop 1 -t 2 -i card.png -i b.mp4 -filter_complex '[1:v]scale=1080:1920,setsar=1,fps=30[c];[0:v][c][2:v]concat=n=3:v=1:a=0' -an out.mp4. Reuse the same font and position.
