Add a second small picture in one corner of the main picture, so you show two scenes at once.
A facecam that shows the host's face in games and live streams. Reaction videos. The presenter's picture in lectures and tutorials. Japanese variety shows have long used a format that shows the cast's reactions in a small window in the corner.
Make the host clip and the main picture clip separately. If you make the host front-facing, shoulders up, on a simple background, they stay easy to see even when shrunk small. In editing, place the small window with Premiere Pro's Motion (position, scale) or CapCut's overlay. In ffmpeg, shrink it and put it in the upper left, like [1:v]scale=360:-1[pip];[0:v][pip]overlay=40:160. For live streams, shrink the webcam source and place it in OBS. At 9:16, avoid the buttons on the right and the caption area at the bottom.
Put a facecam in the bottom-right corner, 360 pixels wide with a 40-pixel margin, while the main video plays full screen: ffmpeg -i main.mp4 -i face.mp4 -filter_complex "[1:v]scale=360:-2[pip];[0:v][pip]overlay=W-w-40:H-h-40[v]" -map "[v]" -map 0:a? -c:a copy out.mp4. Keep the corner clear of captions and platform buttons.
