L-cut
Watch as an animation →The sound of the previous scene carries over into the next picture, tying the two cuts into one event.
To carry dialogue or narration over a reaction shot. To extend the sound of a parachute opening into the ground scene.
A generated clip (4 to 5 seconds) is longer than the edited length, so you have spare sound left over from A. Use atrim to keep A's sound for 0.5 to 1.5 seconds after the cut, and place B's sound with adelay, then amix. This is the default when joining several cuts as "one event, many cuts".
Two-shot sequence: Shot 1, close-up of an old man saying "We have to leave tonight" in a dim kitchen, 4 seconds; hard cut to Shot 2, a young woman packing a suitcase in a bedroom, 4 seconds. The voice and kitchen hum of Shot 1 keep playing for one second over Shot 2's picture before its own sound takes over.
