Earth Zoom / Cosmic Zoom

Watch as an animation →

In plain words

A seamless move in from space to Earth, a city, a street, and a person, or back out the other way, showing where you are and the scale at once.

When to use it

Announcing a place in an opening, a map → on-site transition, pulling out to the whole city at the end. Also used as a sky-to-ground link (see the zoom transition under editing techniques).

Example videos

Powers of Ten™ (1977) — Real: Watch the original cosmic zoom, which pulls out from a picnic in a park to space 10× at a time and then back in.
ALL Camera Movement Prompts in AI Filmmaking (38 Cinematic Moves) — AI: See an AI-made cosmic hyper-zoom that goes from space down to a street.
Contact Intro - Earth Universe Space Zoom Out — Real: See a film opening that pulls out seamlessly from Earth to the edge of space.

Will AI handle it well?

Official effect available, but no camera preset — it is not in the 65 Higgsfield camera-controls, the Luma Ray2 camera concept list, or the Veo prompt guide (checked 2026-10-13). The Higgsfield effects list does have an Earth zoom effect (checked 2026-10-13; an effect, not a camera preset). If one shot doesn't work, join space, city, and street shots with a zoom transition.

One-click prompt

One continuous cosmic zoom from outer space down through the clouds to a snowy mountain village, then into a single street and ending close on a child building a snowman, no cuts, crisp blue turning to warm light, wonder mood, 8-second shot.

Tell the AI like this

one continuous cosmic zoom from outer space down through the clouds to the city street, ending close on the person, no cuts
