Captions / Subtitles styling
Watch as an animation →Easy-to-read captions catch viewers watching on mute and highlight the key words.
Every short-form video with narration or dialogue.
Make Pillow PNGs with a font that is free for commercial use and put them on with overlay=enable='between(t,a,b)'. At 9:16, avoid the bottom 20% or so and the button area on the right, keep to two lines or fewer with an outline, and use the brand color only for emphasized words.
Burn readable captions with a thick outline above the bottom 20 percent of the screen: ffmpeg -i in.mp4 -vf "subtitles=subs.srt:force_style='FontSize=16,Bold=1,PrimaryColour=&H00FFFFFF,OutlineColour=&H00000000,Outline=3,Alignment=2,MarginV=60'" -c:a copy out.mp4. Keep two lines at most and tint only the key word.
